Abstract
PURPOSE: To prevent the formation of a stagnating and empty zone at the central area, by furnishing a circulating port at the opposite side of a retort, making hot water flow backward periodically.
CONSTITUTION: The hot water a in the retort C is made to flow from left to right by operating the circulating and drainage pump CP, and the circulating and control valves V6 and V7 are closed periodically so that a closed loope circle channel is formed by connecting the left circulating port P3, a part of the circulating pipe 9, the circulating pipe 10, a part of the inlet and outlet pipe 5, the circulating dranage pump CP, a part of the connecting pipe 4, a part of the drainage pipe 8, the circulating pipe 11, and the right circulating port P4 successively. The hot water a is made to circulate backward by driving the circulating and drainage pump CP so that the hot water a in the retort C is made to flow backward from right to left. Sterilization by heating is carried out while the hot water a with uniform temperature being always brought into contact with all the flat type vessel groups put in lining up containing boxes which are placed in multiple layers in the retort C.
