Abstract

PURPOSE: To increase not only the durability but the solvent-resistance performance of a magnetic recording medium, by using a vinyliden chloride-acrylonitrile copolymer, a copolymerized polyester containing metallic sulphonate group and an isocyanate compound each as the magnetic layer binder.
CONSTITUTION: The magnetic recording medium contains the following materials as the binder components of the magnetic recording layer: a vinylidene chloride- acrylonitrile copolymer, a copolymerized polyester resin containing metllic sulphonate group, and an isocyanate compound each. The copolymerized polyester containing metallic sulphonate group is obtained by copolymerizing the component containing the metallic sulphonate group such as 5-sodium sulfo-isophthalate or the like into the polyester resin. As the isocyanate compound, is used the straight chain type urethane prepolymer having free isocyanate group at both terminals, or a trifunctional low mol. weight isocyanate compound which is obtained from 1mol toluol and 3mol diisocyanate.
