Abstract

PURPOSE: To decrease charging characteristic without causing output fluctuations (drop-out) by providing the layer of polyisocyanate modified acrylic copolymer on the face of a substrate on the side opposite from the face where a magnetic layer is provided thereby forming the magnetic recording medium.
CONSTITUTION: The organic solvent solution of about 100pts.wt. of conductive acrylic resin (mean molecular weight about 20,000 to 200,000) such as poly(2- hydroxy-3-methacroyloxypropyl trimethyl ammonium chloride) shown by the formula (a) and about 5 to 50pts.wt. of polyisocyanate (b) is coated and dried on the back of a substrate 2 (the face on the side opposite from a magnetic layer 1), whereby the back layer 3 of about 0.1 to 5μ in thickness (preferably 0.2 to 3μ) composed of modified acrylic copolymer is formed.
