Abstract

PURPOSE: To produce a sliding bearing by fortifying the adhesiveness to a bearing metal and produce a base metal for sliding bearings which is superior in the use efficiency of Sn and is free from any plating defect by plating the inside surface of the base metal for sliding bearings by means of molten Sn.
CONSTITUTION: A cradle 2 is provided on a pedestal 1 by way of springs 3, and a cylindrical core 4 is disposed concentrically on the inner side thereof. Further, an induction heater consisting of an iron core 13 and an induction coil 10 is supported in the core by stanchions 12 on the pedestal 1. The core 4 and the base metal 5 are heated by supplying the power to the coil 10 of the induction heater, and when the inside of the base metal 5 reaches about 300°C, molten Sn 7 is flowed between the base metal 5 and the core 4. At this time, a vibrator 16 is driven to vibrate the cradle 2 so that the uniform molten Sn plating free from uneven plating is applied on the inside surface of the base metal 5. Next, the molten Sn is removed and the bearing metal is melt-stuck to the Sn plated surface, whereby the sliding bearing is manufactured. The superior sliding bearing consisting in closely adhering the bearing metal on the inside surface of the base metal may be produced.
