Abstract

PURPOSE: The casting metal mold which comprises using a plating bath suspended with heat-insulating base material and forming a coelectrodeposited covering layer on the surface and which is free from peeling of the covering layer, is high in resistance and has heat-insulating covering layer.
CONSTITUTION: Heat-insulating base materials (diatomaceous earth, alumina, etc.) of about 100μ or less in grain size are suspended at about 5W1000g/l in an electro- or electroless plating bath such as nickel sulfamate plating bath or electroless nickel plating bath and while the bath is being stirred, the coelectrodeposited layer of metal and heat-insulating base materials is formed on the dipped metal mold. Here, if the heat-insulating base material concentration in the plating bath is low, the coelectrodeposited layer of smooth surface is obtainable. By further electrodepositing thereon by using the plating bath suspended with the heat-insulating base materials of higher concentration, the porous electrodeposited layer composed of the metal particles enclosing the heat-insulating base materials may be laminated.
