Abstract

PURPOSE:To make the tube diameter of a fluorescent lamp smaller, as well as reduce the power consumption and decrease the heat radiation, by charging a given rare gas into the tube. CONSTITUTION:The tube of a fluorescent lamp who has an inner diameter of 13- 18mm. and a tube length of 500-1,600mm., is charged with a mixture of rare gases which comprises at least one of xenon and krypton, and at least one of argon and neon. The tube of a fluorescent lamp who has an inner diameter of 15-23mm. and a tube length of 1,600-2,400mm., is charged with a mixture of rare gases which is similar to the former one. Consequently, in either of these two cases, the luminous efficacy is enhanced, the starting characteristic is improved, and the thermal radiation is reduced.
