Abstract
PURPOSE:To reduce power consumption and to decrease the ocurrence rate of a breakdown by applying a pulse voltage to an electrode on a photoconductor and by limiting the waveform of a pulse applied to the transfer gate of a change transfer device. CONSTITUTION:Pulse (a) is a clock pulse consisting of a pulse, applied to terminal phi', for reading a picture element signal and a clock pulse for transferring signal charge, and (b) is pulse phiBS applied to terminal phiBS' and has high level VC and low level VL. When intense light is inputted at time T0 and T4, the potential of point M, even if to rise, is clamped by voltage VC. Therefore, excessive carriers generated when the intense light is inputted are discharged out via terminal phiBS' without being transferred scattering in the substrate, so that blooming is suppressed.
