Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a multipurpose high pressure large capacity pump by a mechanism wherein a piston is reciprocated in a nonsliding manner by the rolling functioning of membranes bent and interposed in a small void between the piston and a cylinder.
CONSTITUTION: A proper void 6 is formed between an outer surface of a piston 5 and an inner surface of a cylinder 1 in the cylinder 1. Bendable membranes 7, 8 are facingly folded and interposed into the void 6, the inner circumferential sections of the membranes 7, 8 are each fixed to the front and rear sections of the piston 5, the outer circumferential sections are fastened to a wall of the cylinder 1, and a chamber 13 is formed between the membranes 7, 8, and kept at negative pressure through a suction port 14. When the piston 5 is reciprocated in the cylinder 1, the folding sections of the membranes 7, 8 follow up rolling in the void 6, and frictional resistance is not generated between the outer surface of the piston 5 and the inner surface of the cylinder 1. Thus, a large stroke is obtained in spite of a small inner diameter of the cylinder.
