Abstract

PURPOSE: To completely shut off charging of exhaust gas with partial cylinders and to contrive an improvement of a charging efficiency thereof with other cylinders by a method wherein an opening of an exhaust gas reflux passage through which part of the exhaust gases in an exhaust gas reflux passage through which part of the exhaust gases in an exhaust system is refluxed is formed in an air inlet passage arranged in the upstream of a shutter valve.
CONSTITUTION: On idlings of an engine, shutter valves 6 are closed, a supply of a mixed gas from the first air inlet passage 2A to the first cylinder is shut off, the mixed gas in the first air inlet passage 2A is supplied to the second air inlet passage 2B through a communicating passage 5 arranged at the upstream of the shutter valves 6, all mixed gases are supplied to the second cylinder 1B only, a charging efficiency of the second cylinder 1B is increased and an ignition efficiency is improved. The other end opening 9b of the first branch passage 9 through which exhaust gases are refluxed to the first air inlet passage 2A is formed on the upstream of the shutter valves 6, thereby enabling a function of the shutter valves system to be secured without supply of the mixed gas to the first cylinder 1A.
