Abstract

PURPOSE: To decide adding percent of water so that the sintering raw material may have a target permeability, by utilizing characteristics regarding water absorption of each raw material in addition to the water content of each raw material and drying grain size.
CONSTITUTION: Water absorption X0, drying grain size d, and initial water content X3 of the blended raw material are found from water absorption ratio X0, drying grain size d and said cotent X3 of each raw material to be blended and their weighted average based on their volume ratio. Then, granulating water X1 is found by formula I from adding percent of water X2, said X3, and water absorption of raw material X4. Permeability Pe is found from formula II from the granulating water X1 and drying grain size d. The estimated value obtained from the permeability estimating formula coincides to a high degree with the value obtained through experiences. Therefore, an optimum amount of adding water can be decided so that a target permeability may be obtained with the raw material by predicting the material permeability, at the stage of planing of raw material blending.
