Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve temperature measurement precision by measuring the temperature of exposed surface of an ingot on which there is no oxidation scale by grinding the surface by a mechanical means.
CONSTITUTION: In continuous casting of steel, the temperatures of the center and terminal part is specially measured by temperature detection terminals 31aW31c provided opposing to the ingot surface. For this purpose, mechanical grinding device 6 is provided on the front face of temperature detection terminals 31 and oxidation scale generated on the surface of ingot 4 is ground by rotating knife edge 6a supported rotatably in holding-rotating mechanism 6b. Consequently, the result of the temperature measurement is extremely accurate.
