Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a cathode-ray tube which is good in beam availability, optimum and the most minute in arrangements of phosphor dots all over the surface in such a way that longitudinal and traverse arrangements of mask holes are independently settled, and the hole diametral shapes are made into an elliptical form in proportion to the deviation in the traverse direction along the arranging direction of beam trio. CONSTITUTION:Arranging pitches of a shadow mask are settled independently in the longitudinal and traverse directions, in respect of having phosphor dot arrangements recede from the most minute condition in accompaniment therewith, the long diameters are made into an elliptical form which descreases as shown in the formula I in such a way that the ratio between the short diameter (b) and the long diameter (a) as b/a corresponds to the deviation x=nPH (where, PH denotes the traverse pitch in the middle of the shadow mask) in the traverse direction from the center of the mask at the position of each hole. This facilitates to obtain a shadow mask in the optimum and the most minute beam avaliability all over the surface without producing moire beats.
