Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain electronic beams which have large area and even flat platelike form in such a way that linear heat cathodes are arranged discontinuously in each line and so as not to face opposite to one another between adjoining lines, and draw-out electrodes which are made perforated holes opposite to each cathode part and a pair of deflecting electrodes are provided. CONSTITUTION:Linear heat cathodes are arranged stringing a linear heat cathode 41 over one another alternately and discontinuously without positioning alternately opposite to one another in such a way that An line has AnBm, AnBm+1..., An+1 line has An+1Bm, An+1Bm+1... For drawing out electroinic wires from the heat cathodes positioned as such, draw-out electrodes 43 which have the perforated holes 44 are arranged at the lower part, a pair of deflecting electrodes 45 are arranged in response to the position of each heat cathode 41, and electrons which have passed through the perforated holes are deflected. This facilitates to reduce to the extent to be able to disregard the potential grade by the linear heat cathodes themselves, and to obtain uniform electronic beams which are substantially in flat platelike form over all the area.
