Abstract

PURPOSE: To vary a transmission torque linearly to facilitate a torque control by a method wherein a distance between the opposing magnetic is kept constant and an area of the opposing magnets is varied.
CONSTITUTION: When the input shaft 1 is rotated, the outer rotor 9 and the permanent magnet 5 are also rotated with the input shaft 1. The magnet 5 gives a traction force with the oppositely arranged permanent magnet 6 and then rotates the output shaft 8 along with the magnet 6. When a load applied to the output shaft 8 is exceeded over a transmittance torque generated under a relative traction of the magnets 5 and 6, an idling rotation is generated of the input shaft 1. In order to adjust the traction force, the adjusting shaft 2 is rotated to move the outer rotor 9 axially toward the input shaft 1 and then a stepless variation of the opposing area between the magnets 5 and 6 may be made continuously. Then, the transmitting torque may be set optionally to enable a fine adjustment to the torque.
