Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve the stability of a magnetic bearing apparatus by arranging annular magnetic members having suitable cross sections onto the surfaces of permanent magnets which constitute the magnetic bearing at a magnetic bearing having opposite bearing surfaces of a magnetic bearing slanted with respect to the axis of the magnetic bearing to form conical surfaces.
CONSTITUTION: A magnetic bearing apparatus consists of a lower bearing 4 which induces an upward repeling power A, a lowest magnetic bearing 5 which induces an upward repeling power Bu and a power Bc directed toward a center shaft 1, and an upper magnetic bearing 6 which induces a downward repeling power C. Said magnetic bearing 5 consists of an annular magnetic member 51 having a triangular shape in cross section adhered to an inner underside of a movable permanent magnetic disk 41, an annular magnetic member 53 having a triangular cross section positioned opposite to the conical surface of the annular magnetic member 51, and a stationary permanent magnetic disk 52 adhered to the underside of the annular magnetic member 51. The opposited surfaces of the annular magnetic members 51, 53 are slanted at an angle of (π/2-θ) to obtain a power necessary for the stabilized running of the magnetic bearing apparatus.
