Abstract

PURPOSE:Regarding a robot equipped with a torch, its rotation part, a rotation part moving mechanism, distance sensors at the torch side and a shield plate for protecting the sensors, to prevent a collision of the shield plate to base metal and a drop of the detecting accuracy of sensors by cooling the shield plate by using a refrigerant. CONSTITUTION:The rotation part 12 has a mechanism movable horizontally and vertically on the base 20, and rotates the torch table 12c around the center of motor axis by means of the motor 12a started and stopped by the detector 12b. With this rotation, the torch 13 is rotated and is put closed to the base metal 100. The vertical and horizontal sensors for detecting a distance between the torch and the base metal and the shield plates 18a and 18b between the sensors and the torch are installed on the table 15, and the torch is positioned moving the table 15 to the tip of torch. The plates 18a and 18b protect the sensors from radiation heat during welding, and they are cooled by passing cooling water through the cooling tubes 181 and 182. Thus, sticking of spatters to the shield plates is prevented. Also, since it is unnecessary to keep the sensors apart from the welding part, the detection accuracy of sensors can be raised.
