Abstract

1481676 Indicating discs; sampling metal melts STANDARD - MESSO DUISBURG GES FUR CHEMIETECHNIK mbH & CO 2 Jan 1976 [18 Jan 1975] 00020/76 Heading F4B [Also in Division G1] A measuring and sampling probe for use with a vacuum furnace, comprises an enclosure adapted to be connected to a vacuum furnace and shut off from it by a vacuum tight valve 3, one or more lances 6, 8 movable within the enclosure and into the furnace so that temperature measurements or samples may be taken, an access door 5, Fig. 3, so that measuring or sampling heads 7, 9 may be removed from the lances 6, 8, and means for evacuating the enclosure. The lances may be telescopic, and may each comprise a square section outer tube to facilitate guidance. The lances 6, 8 are finned, have toothed portions to engage drive pinions directly and are provided with counterweights.
