Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain metal sheet having excellent properties, by applying a cooling means which cools most intensively the central part of roll surface and reduces its cooling power gradually towards both sides of the roll at metal sheet manufacturing device with rotary cooling rolls. CONSTITUTION:When a contacting zone of a rotary roll with the molten metal is >=15mm. width, a temperature difference of less than 200 deg.C is required across the roll surface, and the cooling power is the strongest at the central part and it is reduced gradually towards both sides of the roll. Roll 1a which has convex type cooling water passage 3 having the thinnest wall at the center of contacting zone with molten metal 2 is provided as cooling means. Roll 1b is another means in which cooling water passage 4 is installed closely to the surface at the central part and apart gradually towards both sides. Roll 1c has an arc-shaped roof at its inside and cooling water 6 is jetted through nozzle 7. Roll 1d has cooling water passage 8 which are closely arranged at the central part and apart gradually towards both sides. Furthermore, roll 1e is provided in which diameter of cooling water passage 9 is the largest at the center and smaller gradually towards both sides.
