Abstract

PURPOSE: To remove solvents which are easy to thermally decompose at high boiling points with good efficiently without contaminating zeolite and regenerate the zeolite by passing water through the zeolite having been used for dehydration of solvents until it is saturated with water then allowing the same to contact steam.
CONSTITUTION: At the time of regenerating the zeolite having been used for dehydration treatment of solvents which are easy to thermally decompose at ≥ 100°C b.p., such as dimethylformaldehyde and xylene, more than equiv. water is contacted with a zeolite packed layer 1 at ≥0.5m/H linear speeds and while the heat generated when it is saturated with water is being absorbed, it is saturated with water. Thence, steam is flowed into an adsorption tower 2 from a steam pipe 13 until the zeolite packed layer 1 is substituted with the water, when the remained solvents are perfectly washed and heated. After this, the zeolite packed layer 1 is heated and dried. The zeolite is regenerated in this way by the simple operations without decomposing the solvents.
