Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable the turn-on starting of two thyristor exciters which are connected in series with each other and differ from each other in the phase of supplied AC power, by simultaneously applying a gate pulse to both the thyristor exciters only at the time of their turn-on starting. CONSTITUTION:Thyristor exciters 8a, 9 coupled in series with each other are supplied with power of different phase from power transformers 10a, 11 connected to the output of the armature 1 of an electricity generator. In normal operation, a contact 20a is closed, another contact 20b is open and gate pulses are applied from pulse generators 15a, 16 to the thyristor exciters 8a, 9. At the time of the turn-on starting of the thyristor exciters 8a, 9, the contact 20a is open, the other contact 20b is closed and a gate pulse is applied from the pulse generator 15a to the thyristor exciters 8a, 9.
