Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent the damage and wear of the teeth of an electromagnetic toothed clutch, by detecting in terms of a pulse signal the fluctuation in an exciting current due to wrong engagement and by stopping the supply of the exciting current when a counted value has exceeded a prescribed number.
CONSTITUTION: In a chassis dynamometer having electromagnetic toothed clutches 6, 7 a closed circuit is composed of the solenoid 10 of the clutches 6, 7 a DC power source 11 and a switch 12. An exciting current 1 flowing through the closed circuit is detected in terms of a voltage V by a Hall element 13 as a detector. The detected voltage V is applied to a high-pass filter 14. The fluctuation in the exciting current 1 due to a slip, which is caused when the clutches 6, 7 are engaged with each other, is detected in terms of a pulse signal S2. The number of pulses of the signal S2 are counted. When the counted value has exceeded a prescribed number, the supply of the current 1 is stopped. This results in preventing the damage and wear of the teeth of the clutches 6, 7.
