Abstract

PURPOSE: To increase the durability of the rotary compressor and to render its operation smooth, by disposing a rotor formed therein with cylinders in radial directions eccentrically in a casing, and fitting a rolllike piston in each of said cylinders in the manner that the pistons can be moved freely in respective cylinders.
CONSTITUTION: The rotor 5 is disposed eccentrically in the casing 1, and the cylinders 11 are formed radially in the rotor 5. In each of these cylinders 11, there is fitted the rolllike piston 12 in freely movable manner. Since, with such an arrangement, the section of piston 12 where it is kept in sliding contact with the inner surface of the casing 1 is changed as it is turned freely, it is enabled to protect the pistons 12 against local wear and hence to increase their durability. Further, in accordance with the above arrangement, no work is done during low-speed rotation of the rotor 5 since suction of fluid into the casing 1 is accomplished by the function of centrifugal force. Therefore, load acted at the time of low-speed starting of the compressor can be rendered extremely small and its operation can be rendered smooth.
