Abstract
PURPOSE:To weigh the weights of the molten iron and molten slag in a receiving pan discretely and accurately by using a weighing machine and a level gauge and using the specific formula. CONSTITUTION:The weights and liquid levels when a receiving pan 1 is empty and when it is poured with molten iron 4 are measured by means of a weighing machine 3 and a level gauge 2, and the weight difference at both times is defined as DELTAW, and the level difference as DELTAH. If the mean sectional section of the receiving pan 1 is defined as S, the relations between the weight W0 of the molten iron and weight W1 of the slag in the receiving pan are W0+W1=DELTAW, and the molten iron weight W0 is W0=rho0.(DELTAW-rho1.S.DELTAH)/(rho0+rho1), where rho0; the specific gravity of the molten iron and rho1; the specific gravity of the slag. The slag weight W1 may be obtained from the molten iron weight W0 obtained from this formula, thus the discrete and simultaneous weighing of the molten iron in the receiving pan 1 and the slag of a specific gravity differing from that of the molten iron is made possible.
