Abstract
PURPOSE: To simplify measurement of an accident point, by changing the polarity of a DC power source to positive and negative and by measuring potential difference between an accident phase cable conductor and the earth and between measuring ends of both cable conductors respectively.
CONSTITUTION: An accident point is detected by combination of indefectible phase cable conductor 1 and accident phase cable conductor 2. Cable conductors 1 and 2 are short-circuited between end parts 1b and 2b in the side opposite to measuring ends by short conductor 4, and DC power source E0 is connected between measuring ends 1a and 2a. Voltmeter Vo is connected between measuring ends 1a and 2a, and voltmeter VX is connected between measuring end 2a of accident phase cable conductor 2 and earth 15. If the overall length of each of cable conductors 1 and 2, the resistance, the distance from measuring end 2a of accident phase cable conductor 2 to accident point 3, and the resistance are denoted as L, RL, X, and RX respectively and the polarity of DC power source Eo is changed to positive and negative, expression I is true. Consequently, distance X to accident point 3 can be obtained in percentage without bridge balance, so that measurement can be simplified.
