Abstract

PURPOSE: To quickly open a turbine by-pass valve to prevent the rise in the steam pressure of a nuclear reactor, by providing a reservoir vessel and a quickly opening solenoid valve for a servo-operating cylinder for operating the turbine by-pass valve.
CONSTITUTION: The turbine by-pass valve 4 of a nuclear power plant is quickly opened at the time of disconnection of load from a turbine 2 to by-pass the excess steam of a nuclear reactor 1 to a steam condenser 3. At that time, oil in the valve closing side oil chamber 5b of a servo-operating cylinder 5 is drained to a tank 14 through a quickly opening solenoid valve 7 and also temporarily drained to a reservoir vessel 17 of large capacity. As a result, the pressure of the valve closing side oil chamber 5b falls sharply so that the turbine by-pass valve 4 is opened quickly. Thus, the excess steam can be by-pased to the steam condenser 3 in a short time to revent the rise in the steam pressure of the nuclear reactor 1.
