Abstract

PURPOSE:To supply a proper amount of grease as well as avoid grease shortage at the time of restart by controlling of the flow of grease by means of a container with a cylindrical seat of a porous plastic material, provided inside an oil strap at the end of cross shaft. CONSTITUTION:An oil trap 14 is formed at the cross shaft end 4 of a cross shaft- type universal joint, into which a lubricating oil is supplied through an oil supply hole 12 leading to a nipple 16. The inside of the oil trap 14 is provided with a container 10 with a cylindrical seat made of a porous plastic material, serving as an oil controller. When exerting a centrifugal force on grease, the oil controller 10 serves to supply a proper amount of grease to a bearing portion 18 and also to avoid the shortage of grease supply during the time of restart by interrupting the flow of grease to central part during stoppage.
