PURPOSE:To restart call processing rapidly even in in-use/stand-by switching by saving call data without adding special hardware, by using the connection route between CPU, performing ordinary call processing, and a peripheral processor. CONSTITUTION:Through inter-processor communication lines 201a and 201b, CPU50 and doubled peripheral processor 21 are connected together and line concentrator 11 is connected to processor 21 to constitute the exchange system. Processor 21 of this system is provided with peripheral processor memory units 211a and 211b, microprocessors 212a and 212b, and communication controllers 213a and 213b respectively and while one system is used as in-use one, the other is used as stand-by one. Call information stored in memory unit 211a or 211b of the in-use system is transferred to CPU50 at the interval of a constant period or constant process and further transferred to memory unit 211b or 211a of the stand-by system to save the call information, so that the call processing can be restarted rapidly even in in-use/ stand-by switching.
