Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain a compounding agent for high-molecular resins, which has good compatibility with the high-molecular resins, by a method wherein a petroleum heavy residue or an aromatic extract obtd. from a petroleum fraction is subjected to a pyrolytic polycondensation reaction or an oxidation treatment to obtain a cracked distillate, and the desired compounding agent is extracted from the cracked distillate with furfural or phenol.
CONSTITUTION: An aromatic-rich fraction is extracted from a petroleum fraction having an average MW of 150W850 with furfural, phenol or a similar solvent. When the aromatic-rich fraction or a petroleum heavy residue is subjected to a pyrolytic polycondensation reaction or an oxidation treatment in the presence of an oxidizing agent such as oxygen or air at a temp. of 250W500°C, a cracked distillate is distilled out. The desired compounding agent is extracted from the cracked distillate with furfural, phenol or a similar solvent. Examples of high-molecular resins to which the compounding agent can be applied are epoxy resins, urethane resins, acrylic resins, chlorinated rubber, vinyl chloride resins and alkyd resins.
