Abstract

PURPOSE:To measure continuously the true temperature of the molten metal dependent upon the radiation thermometer stably, by immersing a radiation transfer tube in the molten metal and by leading inactive gas of required pressure into the radiation transfer tube. CONSTITUTION:Immersing part 4 of radiation transfer tube 15 is inserted into molten metal 7 in vessel 8 such as a tundish. Inactive gas of gas pressure controlled properly by control mechanism 13 is fed to leading-in tube 14, and pressure in radiation transfer tube 15 is caused to balance with metal static pressure to form interface 19 between gas and the molten metal in the aperture part of immersing part 4. The radiation light in this interface 9 is led to radiation thermometer 1 through material 2 such as a fiber glass. By this method, a stable thermometric result of a small variance range can be obtained.
