Abstract

PURPOSE: To simlify die constitution and considerably decrease the number of steps by providing a punch, a die formed with cutting edges at the die hole side end edges of the partial wall parts dividing the die hole peripheral wall part by means of a groove, and a receiving part which cooperates at the upsetting of the bulged part.
CONSTITUTION: A die 10 has expandable partial wall parts 10a which are divided to, for example, 2 pieces, by a groove 12 opening at the end part in the die hole 11 peripheral wall part and has cutting edges 13 at the hole 11 side end edges. When the plate materials 24, 25 to be joined are placed on the die 10 and are pressed and a punch 4 is lowered, the plate materials bulge into the hole 11 and groove 12, and the parts of the bulged part 26 opposing to the groove 12 and edge 13 are continously cut to the plate materials respectively as they are. This bulging causes a stem rod (receiving part) 19 to be pressed downward and to stop, but the bulged part 26 is strongly upset by the subsequent slight descending of the punch 4. As a result, the bulged part 26 expands out into the cut side direction, and the die partial wall parts 10a expand. After the predetermined descending of the ram, the punch etc. are moved upward and the rod 19 is restored by a spring and the die 10 by the clamping force of a die opening normalizing member 14.
