Abstract

PURPOSE: To control the temp. of a denitrification reactor and prevent the low- temp. degradation of the activity of denitrification catalysts by providing the bypass line for exhaust gases in the economizer part at the time of denitrifying the exhaust gases of boilers, etc. using heavy crude oil, coal, etc.
CONSTITUTION: A bypass gas line 10 is beforehand provided between the inlet of the economizer 2 of a boiler 1 using heavy crude oil or coal as a fuel and the inlet of a denitrification reactor 5. The exhaust gas of the boiler passes the economizer 2, where it is aded with ammonia 4 and the NOX reacts with NH3 in the presence of catalysts in the denitrification reactor and is thereby reduced to harmless N2. If in this case the exhaust gas temp. at the outlet of the economizer 2 lowers to ≤(400W 450°C), the activity of the catalysts lowers and denitrification reaction degrades. In such a case, the valve 11 of the bypass line 10 is opened to flow part of the high- temp. exhaust gas, whereby the temp. of the denitrification reactor 5 is kept within the above-mentioned range and this prevents the low-temp. degradation of the activity of the catalysts and the decrease in denitrification reaction.
