CONSTITUTION: Waste gas from the boiler 1 firing LS heavy oil, HS heavy oil, etc., is partially branched through the flue 4 with pilot lamp from the back flow of the fuel economizer 3, and at the inlet of the fuel economizer 3, ammonia is added to waste gas in the temperature range from 300 to 600°C through the ammonia charging opening 2 and then the ammonia-mixed waste gas is introduced into the denitrification reactor 5 through the flue 4, in which reactor nitrogen oxides present in waste gas are reacted with ammonia to undergo denitrification reaction to harmless nitrogen. In this case, little decomposition of ammonia itself occurs and also its consumption is made only in an equivalent basis, and the treatment of waste gas can thus be performed with high efficiency in a compact treatment apparatus.
