Abstract
PURPOSE: To reduce efficiently NOx contained in combustion exhaust gas, by addn. of petroleum fuel, which is diluted with combustion exhaust gas to a specific concn. or below, to the combustion exhaust gas.
CONSTITUTION: To the exhaust gas 6 flowing through a ventilator 7, which is usually used in boiler system for recirculating exhaust gas, is added petroleum fuel (e.g., propane) in a ratio of 0.1kg (petroleum fuel)/Nm3 (diluting combustion exhaust gas), and the mixed gas is fed 8 to a furnace 1a. Addn. of the petroleum fuel converts NO contained in the exhaust gas into NH3, HCN, N2. To remove unburnt component e.g., CO contained in large amount in the gas, air diluted with the exhaust gas is introduced 4 into the furnace 1 pref. at 850W950°C. After conversion of most of the NOx contained in the exhaust gas to N2, the exhaust gas is released to the air through an air-preheater 9 and a chimney 10 without causing environmental pollution. The reaction temp. in the furnace 1a is 1,200W1,600°C.
