Abstract

PURPOSE: To enable the reduction of NOX in exhaust gas, by a method wherein the thermal decomposition gas of a solid fuel is used as fuel which is added to high-temperature gas after main combustion.
CONSTITUTION: The thermal decomposition gas, such as coal, is charged through a line 1f so that a fuel becomes in excess against remaining oxygen in main fuel exhaust gas in a fire furnace 1a, and, in order to cause a complete combustion of unburned fuel, oxygen is charged so that the density of remaining oxygen becomes at least 0.5W2 volume percent at a somewhat high-temperature range. After most part of HCN, NH3 in exhaust gas is changed into N2, oxygen is charged in 2-stage in a manner to charge air into a slip stream through a line 1h so that unburned fuel is eliminated and the density of remaining oxygen becomes 0.5W3 volume percent. This permits the simple and effective production of NOX in exhaust gas without the use of denitrating agent in addition to fuel.
