Abstract
NEW MATERIAL:A quinoxaline derivative expressed by formula I [ X is Cl or F; R is COOR1 [R1 is alkyl, cyclohexyl, phenyl, benzyl, (CH2)OCH3, CH2CH=CH2 or salt-forming atom], CON(CH3)2, CN, CH=CH-COOCH3 or CH2OH].
EXAMPLE: n-Propyl 2-[4-(6-chloro-2-quinoxalyloxy)phenoxy]propionate.
USE: A herbicide effective particularly against gramineous plants by any of soil and foliar treatment, with little phototoxicity to cotton, a soybean, a Japanese radish, cabbage, eggplant, etc.
PROCESS: A 2,6-dihalogenoquinoxaline of formula II as a raw material is reacted with hydroquinone to give the compound of formula I via a 6-halogeno-2-(4'-hydroxyphenoxy)quinoxaline of formula III.
