Abstract

PURPOSE: To facilitate a firing of said full by arranging a gas burner bellow a combustion cylinder housing an inner cylinder which has a number by through-holes over the surface thereof and contains solid fuel therein so that the soild fuel is fired by the gas burner.

CONSTITUTION: A combustor body 1 is covered with a lid plate 1 a which has in the central part a recess 3 for arranging therein the gas burner 2 and receiving the botton end of the combustion cylinder 4 disposed over the gas burner 2. The combustion cylinder 4 comprises the inner cylinder 5 having a number of through- holes 5a, an outer cylinder 6 and a lid member 7 both made of a heat-resisting material such as heat-resisting glass. The solid fuel such as coal is disposed within the inner cylinder 5. In practice, the gas burner 2 is ignited and the flame thereof rises up and enters the inner cylinder 5 through a gap defined in the botton of the cylinder 5. Thus the soild fuel 11 is fired. When the firing of the solid full 11 is completed, the gas burner 2 is put out. Thereafter, the soild fuel 11 is subject to the spontaneous combustion. Ashes produced in the combustion partly remain on a ask tray 9 and partly drop into the recess 3. Cleaning of the combustor is carried out by disengaging the combustion cylinder 4 from the combustor body 1.
