Abstract
PURPOSE: To detect thickness of paper sheet according to displacement of a leaf spring supporting a movable roller.
CONSTITUTION: A movable roller 7 is supported rotatably by a leaf spring 21. To the upper and lower surfaces of the leaf spring 21 are respectively fixed strair gauges 23, 24 to detect displacement or strain of the leaf spring 21 as resistance change of the gauges 23, 24. Every time a paper sheet reaches just before a fixed roller 4 and the movable roller 7, the displacement or strain of the leaf spring 21 is detected as a reference value and the thickness of the paper sheet is detected by detecting the change in the displacement or strain of the leaf spring 21 when the paper sheet reaches contact surfaces of the fixed roller 4 and movable roller 7.
