Abstract

PURPOSE: To manufacture the titled phosphor bronze having mechanical strength and bendability equal to those of conventional phosphor bronze by subjecting low- tin phosphor bronze material contg. Ni and Fe to intermediate working and heat treatment and further subjecting it to relatively light cold-working and low temp. final finish annealing.
CONSTITUTION: Low-tin phosphor bronze material consisting of, by wt., 1.0W 3.0% Sn, 0.05W0.35% P, 0.5W2.0% Ni, 0.05W0.15% Fe and the balance essentially Cu is cast and subjected to intermediate working and heat treatment which are characteristic of this method. That is, the cast material is repeatedly subjected to working at ≥50% reduction ratio and process annealing at 350W450°C for about 1hr to form fine granular crystals. The resulting rolled material is then subjected to relatively light final cold-working at 20W60% reduction ratio and low temp. final finish annealing at 200±250°C for about 1hr. Thus, the titled phosphor bronze having fine granular crystal matrix is obtd.
