Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve the charge characteristics at the forming of electrostatic latent images by adsorbing electron acceptive molecules or electron donative molecules to the surface of the photoconductive layer composed of amorphous hydrogenated silicon.
CONSTITUTION: A photoconductive layer composed of amorphous hydrogenated silicon is formed on a substrate. Thence, this photoconductive layer in a fresh state is allowed to contact with NH3 or the like as electron donative molecules for the amorphous hydrogenated silicon or 1.5-dinitronaphthalene or the like as electron acceptive molecules so that these molecules are adsorbed to the photoconductive layer surface. Thereby, the photoconductive layer surface of the image forming member for electrophotography is stabilized. In addition, the electrical characteristics of the photoconductive layer surface may be controlled by selection of adsorbing molecule kinds.
