Abstract

PURPOSE: To produce a porous body of the same shape as that of a prototype by investing a nonflammable investment material into the porous organic prototype, heating the same to allow the organic to annihilate, flowing metal powder suspension into the investment material and sintering and quick-cooling the same.
CONSTITUTION: A prototype of polyurethane foam or the like is embedded in muddy gypsum to allow the gypsum to fill the spaces in the prototype. After this is dried to set the gypsum, it is heated and sintered to cause the polyurethane foam to annihilate. The fluid suspension mixed with sinterable metal powder or ceramics powder and an organic binder or further with water is flowed into the holes of the gypsum by compression on evacuation or and is dried to set. Thence, this is sintered at the sintering temperature of metal powder or ceramics powder to allow the binder to annihilate. After the sintering, it is quick-cooled to powder the gypsum mold and remove the same. This yields the porous body of the metal or ceramics aggregate of exactly the same shape as that of the organic prototype.
