Abstract
PURPOSE: To raise the mechanical strength of tool composite sintered body by the procedure in which aluminum hydroxychloride powder is added to cubic boron nitride powder and then heat-treated, and the power so treated is further mixed with a fixed metal powder and then sintered under a specific condition.
CONSTITUTION: A mixture of 81W32wt% cubic boron nitride powder and 19W 68wt% aluminum hydroxychloride powder is heated up to 700°C, and then 80W 97% the preliminary treatment product are mixed with 20W3% one or more metal powder of Ti, Fe, Si, and Al and then sintered under a specific temperature and pressure condition, at 1200W1700°C and under 38000W60000kg/cm2, for a fixed hour. Thus, three-dimensional network-structured sintered body texture of metal powder of Ti, Fe, Si, Al, etc., is filled in fine continuous apertures in the sintered texture of cubic boron nitride powder and α-type alumina fine powder to form a high density composite sintered body.
