Abstract

PURPOSE: Three components, that is, a specific amine, an epoxy compound and n-butanol or 1,4-dioxane or four components, including additionally a phenol, are used as a stabilizer to prevent the decomposition of the titled compound when it is used to defat and wash metal products.
CONSTITUTION: Three components, that is, an amine such as dicyclohexylamine or di-isobutylamine, an epoxy compound such as epichlorohydrin and n-butanol or 1,4-dioxane, or four components, including additionally a phenyl such as thymol are used to stabilize chlorinated hydrocarbons wherein the amounts of each component added range from 0.001W0.2% in the amine, 0.005W0.5% in the epoxy compound, 0.005W5% in n-butanol and 0.001W0.5% in the phenol. This stabilizer prevents the decomposition of chlorinated hydrocarbons even under such drastic conditions as metal product washing, resulting in no corrosion of metal. Especially, perchloroethylene is extremely stabilized.
