Abstract

PURPOSE: To stabilize methylene chloride in the steam-washing of a metal, by the addition of an aliphatic amine, a nitroalkane, an epoxide and a phenol to the methylene chloride.
CONSTITUTION: (A) An aliphatic amine, e.g. a diisoalkylamine, (B) a nitroalkane, e.g. especially nitromethane, (C) an epoxide, e.g. propylene oxide, and (D) a phenol, e.g. phenol, are added to stabilize methylene chloride. The components (A)W(C) added in an amount of 0.001W2.0wt% and the component (D) in an amount ranging in the usual use produce the sufficient effect of stabilization. The combination of said stabilizer components (A)W(D) may suppress extremely and effectively the decomposition of the methylene chloride in the steam-washing of a metal and prevent effectively the metal from corroding in the liquid and vapor phase parts casued by the decomposition product.
