Abstract

PURPOSE:The titled composition that is obtained by mixing a polyhydric alcohol bearing 3 or more hydroxyls, a sucrose fatty acid ester and a nonionic surfactant which is liquid at room temperature under heating to form a gel composition, followed by combining the resultant mixture with an oil, thus being suitably used for cosmetics, because of its high uniformity and stability. CONSTITUTION:5-99% of a polyhydric alcohol braring 3 or more hydroxyl in the molecule such as glycerol, 0.5-30% of a sucrose ester from 8-22C saturated fatty acid or unsaturated fatty acid with less than 1.8 ester substitution degree and 0.1- 20% of a nonionic surfactant that has a HLB of 3-18 and is liquid at room temperature are mixed under heating to form a uniform and stable gel composition. Then, the gel composition is combined with an oil that is used in usual cosmetics, (e.g., a solid or liquid hydrocarbon at room temperature) to produce the titled composition that has low irritating properties to skin and eyes and excellent activity of softening skin and of protecting skin, further shows high uniformity and stability, thus being suitably used as cosmetics.
