Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent erroneous operations in a captioned system by controlling the amplification rate of an amplifier to amplify the knocking frequency components in vibration signals by the number of revolutions of an engine for improving the discrimination between backgroud noises and a knocking signal. CONSTITUTION:Vibrations of an internal combustion engine are converted into electric signals by a knock sensor, and knocking frequency components obtained by filtering these signals through a band-pass filter are amplified in an amplifier. Then, the output therefrom and a voltage proportional to the backgroud noise components contained therein are compared in a comparator to obtain a knock signal. Contorlling is made by an ignition control part B so that the time of ignition may be delayed by the signal thereof. In this system, the amplification rate of the said amplifier in a knock detection part A is controlled by the number of revolutions of the engine. The control of this amplification rate is made, for example, by reducing the amplification rate by a fixed value only at the time of high-speed revolution when background noises are increased.
