Abstract

PURPOSE:To enhance the stability of casting surface and enable the casting of good casting surfaces to be obtained by containing moisture in the heat-resistant particles near the cavity defining surface and freezing this part in performing casting with a mold manufactured by a vacuum molding method. CONSTITUTION:A film 3 is closely adhered to the mold surface 13 of a matrix 1 formed with the mold surface 13 on the surface to be connected to a suction device, and water 5 is sprayed to the surface of the film 3. A flask 2 is built to the matrix 1, and heat-resistant particles 4 not mixed with any binder are packed and molded in the flask; further the flask is closed by a film 30 and air is evacuated through the suction port not shown, whereby the particles 4 are reduced of pressure and solidified. Thence, the mold is parted; the mold defining surface is cooled by liquid N2 or the like as refrigerant to freeze the interposing water together with the particles 4, and the upper and lower molds having thus been formed with a frozen layer 50 are registered to make a predetermined mold 40, into which molten metal is poured and the casting is thereby accomplished. In this way, the casting of beautiful casting surfaces is obtained inexpensively.
