Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the abrupt depression of a discharge voltage by covering with an insulating film the part which touches to a negative electrode of a negative collector where the negative electrode is composed of a metal such as lithium and a positive electrode is composed of a charge transfer complex of halogen and organic hetero ring compound. CONSTITUTION:A thin solid electrolyte battery comprises a negative electrode 5 of lithium, magnesium, calcium, or silver, a positive electrode 4 of a charge transfer complex of halogen and organic hetero ring compound such as polyiodo 1-butyl pyridinium charge transfer complex, and a solid electrolyte 6 which forms at the contact surfacr of both electrodes, and a negative collector 1 and a sealing packing 3 which serves also as an insulator are covered together with an insulating film 7 such as polybutene on the part touching to the negative electrode 5 excepting the periphery 1a of the collector 1 supporting the negative electrode 5. Thus the positive electrode 4 will not short-circuit to the collector through the electrolyte 6 even when thin parts of negative electrode 5c, 5d wear completely due to uneven thinning of the negative electrode 5, and the abrupt drop of voltage during discharging can be prevented.
