Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a required strength and required load characteristics of a leaf spring used for supporting a body of the automobile, by manufacturing the same in the manner that the eye parts and the main part extending between two pins are formed integrally with each other by use of a fiber layer of glass or the like impregnated with a thermosetting resin. CONSTITUTION:A plurality of rodlike members made of carbon fiber or glass fiber are arranged in the form of a sheet and they are impregnated with a solution of a thermosetting resin. A sheet layer 2 can be obtained by heating and curing the above rodlike members arranged in the form of a sheet. The sheet layer 2 is wound around a metallic pin 1 in predetermined numbers of turn. A left spring 8 can be obtained by pressing the sheet layer 2 by means of metal molds 4, 5 and subsequently hardening the same with application of heat.
