Abstract
PURPOSE:To decrease skid marks of an ingot such as slab and prevent the accuracy during rolling from falling into disorder at the next rolling, at the time of heating the ingot in a continuous heating furnace, by beforehand making the thickness of the ingot of the parts where skids contact thin. CONSTITUTION:In an ingot 1 of slab or the like as a rolling material, the thickness of the parts to be formed with skid marks 3 is beforehand made thinner by about 15-20mm.. In the heating furnace, these parts contact stationary skids 5 and movable skids 4 and are in less contact directly with the heating atmosphere, but since they are thin-walled, the temperature difference from the other parts is less and the entire part of the slab is uniformly heated. Since the skid marks 3 are decreased considerably, there are less changes in the width of the rolling width at the hot rolling, and the plate material of superior width shape accuracy may be produced.
