Abstract
PURPOSE: To effectively remove flocs deposited on filtering layer by a method in which prior to back washing, the level of sand layer is measured and the amount of back washing water is regulated until a target sand layer level predetermined is reached.
CONSTITUTION: At the time of back washing, the level of sand layer during washing operation is detected by the sand layer level detector 13, and the opening degree of the back washing water flow rate regulating valve 8 is controlled by the controller 14 until the sand layer level during the washing operation reaches a target sand layer level, corresponding to an optimum sand layer expansion rate, in order to regulate the amount of back washing water. Also, since the optimum sand layer expansion rate (target sand layer level) is charged with temperature, the temperature of water is measured by the water temperature measuring meter 15 as needed to correct the temperature of target sand layer level. Thus, optimum washing effect can be attained from the standpoints of keeping the sand layer clean, preventing the loss of sand, and economy of washing water.
